I check back regularly to see what other available pets are looking for a forever home. We are very pleased with our great find. I had been looking for a Boxer since my boxer Holly had been put down for multiple reason. I grew up with a boxer and always wanted one as an adult. I fell in love with Holly after our eyes met. She was in the Humane Society. But after having to put her down we searched high and low for that ONE boxer. My husband came across AWAH and read their ad for Millie. He wakes me up at 11:30 P:M at shares their post on her. Well in the morning I went down there. I met Millie and fell in love with her as I did Holly. Even though I am the one that brought her home 5 months ago she attached to my husband. I'm home with her all day long but as soon as he comes home she seems to forget her mom-ma. She fits well into our home, I am so grateful she came available. Both of our hearts are now complete. Thank you Academy West Animal Hospital for posting her.

In 2009 I was in search for a Vet for my beautiful Basset Hound George. I found Academy West and was blown away. In this big city I actually found a wonderful small feel vet office who cared about the animals and their owners. There prices were more than fair. But what I loved most of all is they took care of George and then we talked about the fee. Right there I knew this would be my vet. Sept 30,2013 I had an emergency with George. I showed up with no appointment and they were right there to help me. George had a back injury and had to go to doggie heaven. The staff was so sympathetic and helpful with my families emotions and a huge help with my Autistic son while we said goodbye to our sweet George after 9 1/2 yrs. Dr. Kimmel, Freddie and all of the other staff that was there were great. If you are looking for a vet where your family and your pet is treated with love and respect and being part of a family this is the vet for you. We plan on getting another sweet Basset Hound to love and will absolutely be back to Academy West.

My pets have been patients at Academy West for many years and my posting is long overdue. As a pet parent ?that wants the best care?, I have had many experiences with Academy West. Doctor Kimmel, Freddie, Lily and staff have been consistently thorough, compassionate and makes each and every visit a comfortable one no matter what the situation.

One very memorable visit was when I brought my 13 year old lab in for teeth cleaning, the doctor found out she had throat cancer. After nearly passing out, all I remember is the staff was extremely compassionate and helped me cope with the hard decision I had ahead of me. I did not feel alone? I can?t say enough about the staff dynamics.

Just recently my schnauzer was diagnosed with diabetes, another shocker. Once again, the staff did not overwhelm me and helped me understand that it is not a big issue and maintenance cost is minimal. They absolutely put me at ease and trained me on giving insulin shots. Thank god Lily told me the cheapest place to get insulin. This first place I went to was going to charge me $78 for 1,000 units and told me it would expire 28 days after opening. I was so stressed as I thought here?s another hefty monthly bill. Then I remember what Lily suggested, drove there and ended up paying $24 dollars for the same bottle of insulin and the expiration date was in two years.

I would recommend Academy West to all my friends and family as they put your pets health first and provide great customer service while keeping costs to a minimum!

it has been a while since (autumn/gertrude) came to my home. she was such a fat cat, she looked like a budda but now with her excercising and playing, loves the laser light she looks like a different girl, she has lost all that weight, she looks so small, light, fluffy and oh so cute, she is so beautiful, my Sophie. she has been walking aroung the house with the dog around but it was my dog who took control of her getting used to him. thanks everyone for sophie..

i lost my very best friend of 13 years (a male cat called punkin) by a fast tumor. i finally realized i missed the hugging and loving closeness of a furry friend. I found a very sweet fluffy female called autumn/gertrude. she gave me lots of kisses and rubs and loving, she is a NIGHT OWL which works cause my dog a pappillion is a day dog, ha,ha, i named my new furry friend SOPHIE and she is responding to her new name well, i bought a tall cat post so she would feel safe, she just sniffed and looked away the first day but the second she was up all over it and sleeping on the top.she is afraid of dogs and was hiding under the bed the first night till i came in to sleep which i found she peed on my $5,000 temperpedic bed, thank god for waterproof mattress pads, brought in the litter box from the front till she isnt afraid of the dog. everything seems to be working out well, she wonders around the house at night when i board the dog up in the bathroom she seems to feel safe then, and knows when i move the board to the bedroom door for daytime..i hope and have good feelings that she will be happy with me and our new home together...sweet sophie..........thanks for the e-mail regarding her when i posted on petfinders...
